![]() Friday, November 24, 2006 Power generation using pressure pads laid on roads, railway tracks and walkways Pads could be laid under roads which will absorb the weight of the vehicles going above it to generate power either hydraulically or using artificial muscle type structures which can convert pressure to electricity. This electricity could be fed into a grid or used to produce hydrogen by electrolysis. posted by Prem | 9:32 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 Ceramic internal combustion engines The entire engine block could be made using high strength ceramics which can be injection moulded. Metal filaments / liquid pathways could be inserted in the block to draw away the heat. This heat could then be used to power small turbines for generating power or used as a way of storing energy. posted by Prem | 2:00 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2006 A system for checking for duplicate and copied resume entries for sites such as Naukri.com. A regex system which will indicate in percentage the possibility of plagiarism. posted by Prem | 2:20 AM A website which allows people to blog: - Thanks and praise notes to God several times each day in a Thanks Blog (TB) - Link that to specific attributes of God which they must themselves define. For example, a thank you note for a provision may be linked to "God is a provider" in a separate wiki type section ("God's Attribute Wiki - GAW) of the site. If such a category in the wiki does not exist, they can create such a category. When a link is made, the link is made from the GAW to the blog entry and vice versa. - In the GAW, the user can create new attributes for God. Each attribute allows the user to include plain text, link to blog entries they have in the Thanks Blog - Truth destroys lies (TDL) section where the user enters the truth that has been spoken into their lives which counters the lies spoken. The user can enter the truth and specify what lie it countered. TDL can be linked to from the TB and vice versa - also, from the GAW and vice versa. - Blast from the Past (BP) Notification system - The user can get regular emails sent to them from the website which will bring up a blog entry which they themselves made, and the related GAW, TDL sections. This is to encourage the users to remember what they had themselves written to remind them about God's goodness in their lives. The BP is selected randomly. - Quiet Time Journal - This section is for the members to enter what God has told them - not necessarily from their Bible during their quiet time. - Home page - In the home page, the randomly selected BP is displayed along with notes written by others. - Links to Bible verses to be given to Bible Gateway. posted by Prem | 2:11 AM Sunday, August 20, 2006 Gadget Registry posted by Prem | 9:23 PM Thursday, October 25, 2001 The clipport's primary strengths: 1. Interchangeble parts - Each user can opt to choose parts which relate to their own specific needs. Some people might opt to make use of a colour display while others might be willing to make use of a monochrome display.. and there might still be others who are possibly looking for devices that can display Braille. One user might be keen on using a screen based keyboard while there might be others who are more comfortable using a small keyboard instead. This technology brings choice to the user. 2. Rugged parts - each part can be enclosed in shock-proof enclosures allowing for serious mobile and outdoor use. So those people who are not willing to make use of these wearable computing devices because of their fragile nature, might be drawn towards making use of something which is arguably rugged. 3. Componentization: The basic components of the system could be kept in different places - so instead of one bulky enclosure for all components, we could have small components which could be worn comfortably. Those components which will need to be handheld will therefore be much lighter. 4. Centralized storage - this allows for data to be stored centrally or across a common set of storage devices. So each separate component does not need to include its own storage facility.. this allows for easy upgradation of components as data is not lost when components are discarded. 5. Standard components - As far as possible standard components and interconnect technologies will be used and this will allow interoperability between existing desktops and laptops with the clipport devices. 6. Centralized power supply: By allowing for the use of a single powersupply across all the devices, it becomes easier to manage the power and battery life. One no longer needs to worry about checking the power supply of each connected device. The clipport's primary weaknesses 1. posted by Prem | 10:27 AM Friday, August 31, 2001 clipport posted by Prem | 7:04 PM A windowing system for Linux and unix based on a clean programming style, maximum speed and efficiency and high graphical speed. Like Be. Also having an API like be. The aim of a light windowing system should be to 1. Give the basic 2D rendering primitives for displaying windows 2. Enable the drawing of images and setting the property of the canvas 3. Enabling mouse events 4. Getting keyboard events 5. Managing z-orders, paint operations etc. 6. Driver support 9. Accelerated driver support 10. OpenGL support Higher level 6. Provide the clipboard facilities 7. Provide the management and administration interfaces 8. Support user profiles Highest level 9.
